For those wanting a quick respite from the congestion, pollution and fast-paced life in the metro, Tagaytay is the destination to go. Tagaytay is only about two hours away from Metro Manila but the contrast in ambiance and scenery between the two locations is very striking. The former takes pride in its cool and chilly breeze, a picturesque view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano, exciting eco-tourism activities, beautiful churches and charming restaurants, just to name a few. And for those who love beef, meat is very affordable in Tagaytay’s Mahogany Market. For the last several years, Tagaytay is our go-to place for unplanned family weekends.

Getting to Tagaytay is easy because it’s just a straight drive through SLEX. Here are two options:

SLEX via Sta. Rosa Exit
Drive all the way to Tagaytay Public Market then turn right going to Tagaytay City proper and Nasugbu/Balayan/Lemery Batangas or left going to People's Park in the Sky.

SLEX via Eton Exit
Turn right to Greenfield Parkway then on to United Boulevard, turn right to Laguna Boulevard then left to Sta. Rosa - Tagaytay Road to reach Tagaytay.

My wife’s family owns a charming little house in Tagaytay so accommodation is never a problem for us. Nonetheless, we would still like to try one of the boutique hotels in the city when our budget permits.

When in Tagaytay, the activities you can do seem endless. The following is a list of the most popular sights to see in Tagaytay:

1.       Chapel on the Hill (Don Bosco Batulao, Brgy. Cahil, Calaca Batangas)
Chapel on the Hill is perched on the edge of a ridge. This popular wedding destination provides a majestic view of Mt. Batulao. It’s a small chapel that is perfect for intimate weddings.

6.       Little Souls Sisters Convent
This is another popular destination for Sunday masses. Just across it is a small store-café that sells one of the best coconut cream pies.

These are just a handful of the destinations that you can visit in Tagaytay. There are still many places to explore in this charming City. All you need is a little spark of adventure in you to explore the less popular but equally stunning sites in Tagaytay. And for us, we always look forward to our next family weekend in Tagaytay.

  2. They helped us put together a great menu, from the consultation to the tasting to the actual event. At Malibu wedding venues they had biscuits and gravy, cornbread muffins, fried catfish, jambalaya, enormous pieces of fried chicken.
